Austin-Healey 100-6 BN4 Four Seat Roadster 1959

Offered for sale is a 1959 Austin Healey 100 6 BN4, a four-seat roadster that has been extensively refurbished in recent years and fitted with several desirable upgrades. The car was purchased as a project in 2017 and underwent a full strip-down, metal repair and repaint in dark brown in 2020. During this work, various panels were replaced, including the fenders, rocker panels, door skins, floor sections and one outrigger. An aluminum front chin and an aluminum left-rear shroud were also installed.

At the front, the car features a later style grille, red tow points and driving lights with Lucas covers. Additional exterior details include plexiglass wind wings, a hood scoop, twin exhaust outlets, a single windshield washer jet with a glass reservoir and some light pitting in parts of the exterior trim. The left mirror is cracked. The soft-top frame is present, and a red mohair tonneau cover is included, although no soft top is supplied.

The car rides on 15 inch wire wheels with three-ear knock-offs and 195 60 Achilles ATR Sport tires. It sits on a lowered suspension and uses drum brakes all around. The brake and wheel cylinders were rebuilt in 2018.

The interior was rebuilt in 2021. The 2+2 seats were re-trimmed in black leather by Rightway Heritage Trimming in Langford, British Columbia. The remaining interior materials were supplied by John Skinner Ltd. in the UK. The car features custom black carpeting over the floors and fiberglass transmission tunnel, along with a Smiths heater, passenger grab handle and door pockets. The horns were rebuilt in 2019.

The black-finished steering wheel is paired with a top-mounted shifter, an aftermarket shift knob and a red leather boot. Smiths instrumentation includes a 120 mph speedometer, a 6,000 rpm tachometer and additional gauges. Since completion, the car has covered only 762 kilometers.

Power comes from a 2.9 liter inline-six sourced from a later BJ8 model, paired with a top-shift four-speed manual gearbox. The engine is equipped with a Denis Welch Motorsport–style intake manifold and SU HD8 carburetors. The radiator has been recored.

A characterful and nicely rebuilt Austin-Healey 100-6 BN4, combining a strong engine setup with a fresh presentation and thoughtful detailing.
