Offered for sale: an exceptionally rare 1956 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider, chassis #00412 — one of the first 600 cars ever produced, part of the historic Max Hoffman order that introduced the Spider to the U.S. market.
This early Giulietta is a true collector’s item, featuring hand-formed bodywork by Pinin Farina, built before the progressive automation of production. It is a landmark in Alfa Romeo’s history — the car that opened the doors to North America and defined a
generation of Italian roadsters with its lightweight construction, mechanical innovation, and timeless design.
History:

• Imported new to the USA in 1955 (first registration: 01/01/1956)

• Type 750D (non-Veloce), built for the U.S. market

• Early “Passo Corto” short wheelbase version

• Kept in France for 25 years by the previous owner

• Owned by me for the last 5 years

• Fully documented appraisal from 2022 (report included)

Engine, fuel & cooling:

• New fuel and water pumps

• New thermostat, rebuilt radiator

• All coolant and fuel hoses replaced

• Carburetors rebuilt, engine bay cleaned

• Many engine gaskets and seals replaced

• Valve clearances adjusted

• Complete ignition overhaul: distributor, coil, plugs, wires

• Brake fluid level warning light added

Braking system:

• New master cylinder, new brake hoses

• Drum brakes fully rebuilt with new linings

• New handbrake cables

Chassis, suspension & drivetrain:

• Fully refurbished front axle: ball joints, bushings, springs

• New shock absorbers front and rear

• Rear axle fully serviced, new straps

• Numerous suspension bushings replaced

Other mechanical work:

• Restored fuel tank

• Brand new exhaust system (except manifold)

• 5 restored wheels with new tires

• All fluids replaced

Bodywork:

• Very good overall condition with minor signs of use

• Structurally sound: no rust, clean underbody

• Original undercoating still visible, no heavy repairs

• Excellent rigidity: doors remain aligned even on a lift

• Soft top replaced a few years ago, still in very good condition
