Description
Manufacturer BMW
Model 840 CI
Year of manufacture 1997
Transmission Automatic
Horsepower 286
Mileage
95,191 km
Model history
In 1990, BMW introduced the E31, the first generation of the 8 Series, which was an indirect successor to the BMW 6 Series. As a two-door coupé with a V8 or V12 engine, the 8 Series was a grand tourer that BMW built from 1990 to 1999. Compared to the 6 Series, the 8 Series was considered a completely new model class with significantly higher performance and a higher price tag. The 8 Series was unveiled in September 1989 at the IAA in Frankfurt. As the first road vehicle with a V12 engine and a 6-speed manual transmission, the 8 Series was a milestone in BMW's history. Due to economic setbacks, BMW launched a rare E31 version with full M equipment. Only 299 units were produced.
