Description
It's with a heavy heart that I'm putting up this campervan for sale. It's ready for long trips and full-time living and remote working for 2 people. Due to its size and features it's comfortable even on cold and rainy days and it allows you to stay off grid for several days (it only depends on your water consumption).
It's most comfortable to drive on local roads, at around 90-100km/h where it will consume below 9L/100km. However it can also do 130km/h on motorways (unlike typical campers) if necessary, it gets a little loud then. Average consuption on long trips with plenty of mountain passes was 9.6L/100km. It is also very capable off the beaten path due to its ground clearance - it made it to Georgia and Armenia and back. It drove up to 3200m and on completely unpaved roads in the countryside and didn't skip a beat even once. The only reason for sale is that it just does not get enough use nowadays (apart from occasional weekend rides) and it's sad to see it parked.
You won't find another offer at this price point for a custom built van equipped like that - if you're looking for a reliable campervan to live in all year round and/or work from, this is an unbeatable deal.
Lastly, this van is very stealth (it was not the goal of the conversion) as the awning is the only indication on the outside that it might be a camper. Due to that it does not attract unwanted attention and looks like a regular delivery van.
- Ducato Maxi - it's the sturdier version of this van, with stronger rear suspension and larger brakes from factory
- L4H2 - Length 6.36m, Height 2.58m, Width 2.05m
- Technically in a very good condition, regularly maintained, fresh MOT (controle technique) with no remarks
- Registered as special vehicle (M1)
- 2 seats, swiveling passenger seat
- 120L fuel tank - easily over 1200km of range
- air conditioning
- cruise control
- rear parking sensors
- reversing camera
- alloy wheels with Michelin Agilis Crossclimate tyres
- Fiamma security locks for driver and passenger doors
- Rear door lock (anti-burglary protection for rear door)
- Steering wheel lock
- Self-sufficient with 660W solar on the roof and 300Ah LiFePo4 battery (several days of autonomy with even 2 people working remotely; if there's sun then it's endless :))
- High quality Victron components:
- MPPT 100/50 SmartSolar charge controller + Smart Battery Sense
- Orion Smart DC/DC 12V-30A Isolated charger (fast charging from the alternator when the engine is running)
- Smart BatteryProtect - very customisable, allows you to use the LiFePo battery fully
- Phoenix 12/1200W Inverter (230V)
- BMV-712 Smart monitor - compact and shows all the necessary battery info without having to check the app
- Shore charging - never used as it was simply not needed; but it's possible
Interior:
With a ceiling height of 1.86m, the interior offers enough space to stretch your legs and stand upright even on rainy days. The Maxxfan Plus skylight with a remote provides fresh air and ventilation (and it has a thermostat), and a smoke detector ensures safety at night. There is an office desk with a 32" screen on an extendable arm which locks into place when you're driving; it can be used for working as well as watching films and videos when you're in bed.
The van was completely insulated (Kflex 25mm & 6mm) so it's ready to be used in all seasons. There were several nights in the mountains with temperatures falling below 0C and it was always comfortable. Of course there is an auxiliary air heater - Planar 4D (4kW) - connected to the main diesel tank (very convenient) with several vents, including one in the toilet/shower. It's up to you to decide how warm you want to make the interior of the car!
The sleeping area measures 1.85m x 1.40m, offering enough space for two people to sleep very well - it has a new custom made mattress which was a game changer, it's much more comfortable than what you normally find in campers (or holiday accommodation for that matter). The bed is fixed and you do not have to extend it every evening - once again, something you really start to appreciate on longer trips.
Both windows in the rear doors open and are covered with custom-made blinds. This makes it easy to admire the sunrise/sunset or great views without having to step out of the van.
There is plenty of storage space inside, including a proper wardrobe (between the shower and the desk) in which you can hang your jackets. There are also cupboards along the length of the van. Surprisingly the most useful spot is above the cabin as it's easy to reach and really spacious. As a bonus all of these spaces are illuminated.
Kitchen:
- Thetford Triplex - triple stove with oven, with 2 gas banks (11kg each) under the sink; having a full-size cooker makes a difference during a long trip, it's very sturdy and you can easily fit multiple pans and pots at the same time
- 100L refrigerator with freezer compartment
- Large sink with hot and cold water
- Several cupboards, shelves and storage options
- There is a smoke and gas detector
Water:
- Insulated 100L fresh water tank, installed inside
- 100L grey water tank under the car
- Water pump (Shurflo, 10.6L/min)
- Hot water boiler (Elgena)
- Indoor shower with an additional extractor fan
- The outdoor shower (with both hot and cold water) is located at the rear door - super useful to clean your bike or take a shower on warm days
Toilet:
- Thetford C400 cassette toilet with the waste tank accessible from outside
Garage/boot:
It is very large as I wanted to be able to fit 2 bicycles inside the van together with all the bags. It can also be divided into two parts which is handy if you're travelling with a dog. There is an access door from the inside of the van that removes the need to step outside in bad weather.
Outside:
- Sliding screen door
- Fiamma F80S awning with a built-in LED light bar (quite simple but I haven't seen any other van with a similar solution)
I'm happy to answer any questions and provide additional pictures.
