In the summer of 2023, I started searching for the exact model I wanted: a BMW E92 335i, with manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. At the time, there were none listed on Romanian sites, only xDrive or automatic versions.
I expanded my search across Europe and eventually found this car in Belgium. I spoke with the owner, who sent me pictures and videos of the car, since I insisted on driving it back myself to Romania.
He told me he had replaced the turbochargers 6 months earlier and even showed me the old ones (which had a slight rattle). He also said he never had any other issues with the car. It had around 190,000 km at that time and everything seemed in order. I brought it back to Romania, but the tires were quite worn, so I replaced all four with Michelin CrossClimate 2.
Later, I noticed one of the brake discs was starting to warp and the brake pads were also worn, so I decided to replace all four discs and pads to make sure everything was fresh.
Since this is an N54 engine, and I know what it's capable of, I wanted to increase the power slightly without putting stress on the engine. I contacted several tuning shops in Bucharest, and after getting a few opinions, I chose WPP Performance.
At first, they didn’t want to take the car in, as this model is often heavily modified and they suspected it might have high mileage. I told them everything, how many kilometers it had and that it was completely stock. They agreed to check it out and said they’d proceed only if it was running optimally. They ran a diagnostic scan, and no errors were found.
After the tune, the car put out 380 HP on the dyno, and the difference was immediate. The throttle response improved significantly. They recommended changing the spark plugs if I hadn’t already, and only using premium fuel (I’ve only used 100 octane since I bought it). I changed the spark plugs and everything ran smoothly.
During all this time, I had noticed a loud wind noise at speeds over 160–180 km/h. I consulted several people, and they all said it was likely caused by the window seals. I was advised to take it to the dealership and have them replaced. I scheduled an appointment at BMW dealership in Militari, Bucharest, and after they replaced the seals, the noise disappeared completely.
Currently, the car is in perfect working condition, with absolutely no issues.
I’ve taken care of it with the intention of keeping it for many years, but due to personal reasons, it is now up for sale.
